![]() Red Deer The New Zealand Red Deer poses on many foreign hunters’ walls, with memories of great hunts - be it in the roar, where exciting hunts are had, or just in the general hunting season. The Red Deer leaves a magnificent lasting impression. The very first Red Deer saw its arrival in 1851 and have spread throughout New Zealand. The best time to hunt Red Deer is from end of February through till August. The Roar lasts from early April and sometimes right the way through April. We conduct hunts on a pristine Game Estate where quality hunting is paramount, and is set in beautiful highland surroundings. A typical day of hunting the Red Deer involves careful glassing in the very early mornings and late evenings, with exciting stalks to follow.
![]() Sika Deer Sika reside only on the North Central Island, offering intense bush stalks with patience being a virtue. They are extremely cunning, yet again very rewarding to hunt. The Sika arrived from Woburn Valley Park back in 1905, and is still thriving in the same place it got released. Its origin is eastern Asia. The best time to hunt the Sika deer starts from March through till May where the roar starts in late April and lasts until end of May. Our partner on the North Island, Brian Elwarth, has hunted Sika Deer for many years and is very competent in chasing the elusive Sika.
